BIRTH CENTENARY OF SWAMI CHINMAYANANDA

         Full of questions and brimming with curiosity Balakrishnan Menon, born in Ernakulam kerala, a patriotic journalist set out for the ashram of Swami Sivananda in Rishikesh. Thus began a journey leading to his own spiritual evolution. Choosing to become a renunciate, Balakrishnan Menon was initiated into sanyas on February 25 1949 and given the name Swami Chinmayananda Saraswati ("the Bliss of Pure Consciousness") Spiritually awakened through Swami Tapovanam's tutelage and grace and inspired by Mother Ganga's continuous flow of purity and service to mankind, Swami Chinmayananda sought and received his Guru,s blessings to spread the scriptural knowledge that had brought fulfilment in his own life.

        A missionary and visionary who lead a spiritual and cultural renaissance estiblishing schools, colleges, temples, ashrams and modern Gurukul called Sandeepany Sadhanalaya for in-depth study of Vedanta;

A stalwart of timeless values;

         An unparalleled writer, who wrote commentaties on the Bhagavad Gita, Upanishads and other spiritual and inspiritual titles;

An outstanding orator, known for his wit, humour and modern outlook;

A humanitarian's selfless service to society

        An extraordinary teacher of Vedanta-A Master of the "Scince of Life". He exemplified its truths with his own life and he inspired thousands to do the same to carry forth His Work, His Vision and His Mission.
