2013 - 2015 : Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan

Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan (5th September 1888 - 7th April 1975) was the first vice President of India(1952-1962) and the second President of India (1962-1967). He was a renowned Indian Philosopher and a statesman who had a distinguished academic career. He was an acclaimed scholar of comparitive religion and philosophy. For his accomplishment in the field of Philosophy, literature and politics, the Govt. of India honoured him with the highest civillian award "The Bharat Ratna" in 1954. In commemoration to his service to the field of education, his birthday is celebrated as Teachers' Day in India.
