K.G. AMBEGAONKAR
January 14, 1957 to February 28, 1957
K.G. Ambedgaonkar, the fifth Governor of the RBI is one of the shortest serving RBI Governors. His term lasted only for 45 days from January 14, 1957 to February 28, 1957 following the resignation of his predecessor B. Rama Rau. A member of the Indian Civil Services, he was a Finance Secretary prior to being a Deputy Governor and then the Governor.
Even with such a short tenure, he was able to forge closer relations between the agricultural enterprise and the RBI. However, his tenure was not long enough for any of his signatures to appear on bank notes.
