A Ghosh succeeded Dr Manmohan Singh as the 16th Governor of Reserve Bank of India. He was the shortest serving Governor with tenure of just 20 days. Very few notes including Rs 2, Rs 5 and Rs 10 were issued during his short term. He was the Deputy Governor of Reserve bank since 1982 before being appointed as the Governor. He was also chairman of Allahabad bank. He was also Director of IDBI Bank and was on the Governing body of the National Institute of Bank Management.
