M narasimham

M Narasimham succeeded Mr KR Puri as the 13th Governor of Reserve Bank of India. He had a short tenure of seven months. He served as Additional Secretary, Department of Economic affairs prior to being appointed as Governor of Reserve Bank. He was the first reserve bank employee to be promoted to the post of Governor, which is usually exempt from in house promotion. He has held other significant posts like Executive director of World Bank and IMF, chairman and Managing Director of Life insurance Corporation of India and Secretary in the Ministry of Finance. He was chairperson of the Committee on the Financial System, 1991 and the committee of Banking Sector reforms, 1998. He was awarded Padma Vibhushan in 2000.
